JACOB RICHMOND – Artistic Director
Jacob Richmond studied acting and playwriting at Concordia University in Montreal and at UVIC. His plays include: The Qualities of Zero, Small Returns, Ride the Cyclone and Legoland. Legoland has picked up numerous awards across Canada. He has also received the Montreal English Critic’s Circle Award and was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award. He has written pieces for CBC Radio as well as for film and television. Jacob performed in My Chernobyl and was nominated for a Jessie Award for his sound design. He is currently performing in Blue Bridge Theatre’s Death of a Salesman and The Fantasticks.
BRITT SMALL – Artistic Producer
Britt Small completed her MFA in Directing at the University of Victoria with a production of Sophocles’ Electra. Nationally and internationally, she has directed Janet Munsil’s, Circus Fire and The Ugly Duchess, Jacob Richmond’s The Qualities of Zero, Ride the Cyclone and Legoland, numerous new Fringe Festival plays and Firebugs at the William Head prison. Recently she was nominated for a Jessie award for her direction of Aaron Bushkowski’s new play My Chernobyl, co-produced in Vancouver and Victoria. She is directing The Fantasticks for the inaugural season of Blue Bridge Theatre in Victoria. Britt also plays in a band, performs in the AV cabarets and teaches workshops in storytelling for actors at UVIC.
ALEX WLASENKO – Artistic Associate
Alex Wlasenko is a writer, performer, bassist, improviser, and physicist originally from Montreal. Highlights since moving to Victoria include: being one of the show runners of Atomic Vaudeville’s cabarets, performing in improv group Remilio Sheen, directing Missie Peter’s solo show “Public Confessions of a Public Servant,” co-creating “The History of Everything,” (Award for Best Physical Theatre/Dance Production, 2008 Victoria Fringe Festival) and being in the original cast of Ride the Cyclone as Virgil, the anthropomorphic bass-playing rat. He is currently working on a collaboration with musician Anne Schaeffer, writing a commissioned piece concerning technology, and is the Lab Manager at the Imaging and Laser Lab User Facility at the University of Victoria.
