The long-awaited big-cast musical sequel to Legoland, from the theatrical wunderkinder at Victoria’s own Atomic Vaudeville. It’s a comedy, a tragedy, and a musical ride, as a teenage chamber choir from Uranium, Saskatchewan die in a roller coaster accident at a traveling fair. Karnack, a mechanized fortune-telling machine, feels responsible for the young choir’s demise, and gives the teens a chance to express themselves to the world after death. Ride the Cyclone is their final recital, where they celebrate their individuality while coming to terms with their untimely demise. Featuring a cast of Victoria’s most talented young performers, directed by Atomic Vaudeville co-founders Britt Small and Jacob Richmond.

Reviews

“…probably the most uproarious and outrageous piece of musical theatre Canada has ever produced.” -J. Kelly Nestruck,  The Globe and Mail

“…riotously funny, always surprising and filled with five shows’ worth of solid ideas.” -Jon Kaplan, Now Magazine

A work of pure genius…a dark and delicious carnival of lost souls…Catch it now and proudly proclaim that you were aboard for the ride early on.” – Peter Birnie, Vancouver Sun

“The show is unquestionably a success, cleverly covering a wide-ranging musical pastiche: gospel, rap, Brechtian cabaret, Broadway-style show tunes.” -Adrian Chamberlain, Times-Colonist

“Ride the Cyclone is a bizarre, quirky homegrown musical theatre production that Victorians should be proud of—and if the virtually sold-out run is any indication, they certainly are. It’s one roller coaster you’ll want to go on over and over again. This musical theatre experience is a ride you won’t soon forget.” -Amanda Farrell, Monday Magazine
